What to expect on our portrait session
On arrival we make sure everything is set up for your portrait session. We’ll soon make you relax, because we are very relaxed. Everything is explained so no big surprises! We are very experienced in getting that more laid-back shot and know how to work with you to transport your story into images.
We have the same approach whether individual or family groups.
How long is a portrait session?
The session takes about one and a half hours
The Head Shot Session – How It Works:
We take a streamlined approach.
A personalised headshot normally takes around an hour. This allows time to get to know you and create a set of styled images customised just for you. There is no pressure, enough time is allowed to change clothing and adjust lighting etc.
A choice of 6 online images are included in the headshot session, which are viewable online in our gallery.
Images will be correctly lit and posed for a great headshot with the minimum of retouching. If more retouching is required please contact us.
Prints are also available, please contact us for up to date print prices.
Is hair and make-up styling included?
Hair and make-up styling is not included in a headshot session. We have hair and makeup available at our studio if required. Please contact us for prices.
What to wear to my headshot session?
Headshots are mainly head and shoulders. Your choice of clothes should underline what message you want your headshot to capture – corporate, actor, social media or company?
Try and avoid white or black.
Make sure the clothes you bring are crease free.
Avoid clothes which are too tight!
Only wear a minimum amount of jewellery unless really required.
What’s the difference between a headshot and a portrait?
The difference between a headshot and a portrait is that a head shot is an image of a person’s face. Its purpose is to identify the character in someone and to give the right impression to which area it is intended for, business, actor, social media, corporate, company. Good for PR and marketing. You are what the unique image is.
The portrait is a more in-depth image portraying the story of the person. From head and shoulders to full length with a lighting set built to give a richness to the character and their story. Whether individual or family, everyone can have a unique image encapsulating this moment in their lives.
Corporate head shots and business portraits.
There is a wide range of business portraits suitable for corporate clients, varying from corporate head shots for PR, annual reports or websites to environmental portraits showing images of their everyday working surroundings.
Normally we would set up a mini booth with different backgrounds and lighting in the work place where clients are each invited to have a given time slot of 15 minutes which allows enough time to get the right images. This ensures accurate time keeping, which we know is an important aspect, allowing normal work to carry on. We only work with one person at a time to ensure privacy and confidence boosting.
We carefully consider business portraits taking a range of different expressions, which will stand the test of time and be suitable for any anticipated situation. Shots taken range from more upbeat smiling to neutral so delivering a product selection suitable for any PR or press release. After all it’s no good sending out a smiling portrait for a bad news press release.
Every detail is taken into account. Environmental portraits are discussed in depth beforehand to make sure current PPE policies and regulations are adhered to. Correct use of protective wear and appropriate equipment are very visible when set into images.
My work as a fashion photographer involves much more than taking technically precise shots of clothes and accessories. My pictures will showcase the style and aura of your creations to project their individual image.
When working with designers, agencies and stores I capture and define the unique essence required to give their products distinctive appeal to clients.
I can also help clients new to the fashion world create, encapsulate and present their visual concept.
My fashion shoots are either in my studio or on location.
